Argentina

Football fever in Buenos Aires, thundering Iguazú Falls and endless expanses in the Pampas: Argentina is full of contrasts and experiences. This South American country fascinates visitors with its blend of nature, culture and history. In the capital Buenos Aires, the colourful La Boca district with its brightly painted houses is a particular attraction. Football fans can experience the passion for the sport up close here. Those travelling further inland should definitely visit one of the traditional gaucho farms in the pampas. In the west of the country, the majestic Andes offer spectacular mountain landscapes that are ideal for hiking and adventure.

The climate in Argentina varies greatly depending on the region. While the north is subtropical and warm, the south tends to be cool and alpine. If you are visiting the capital, Buenos Aires, or the fertile Pampa plains, plan your trip for November to March to enjoy pleasantly warm, mostly dry days – ideal for city tours or excursions into the countryside.

Credit cards such as Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in Argentina’s larger cities, including in most hotels, restaurants and shops. The official currency is the Argentine peso (ARS). You can withdraw cash from the numerous ATMs in the cities. It is advisable to have larger notes ready, as these are often preferred.
