Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque

Brunei

Brunei is a small state on the island of Borneo which is often overlooked, but which has a lot to offer. You will discover an interesting mix of nature, religion and tradition, with dense rainforest alongside modern infrastructure. The magnificent mosques in the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, are particularly eye-catching, especially the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque with its golden dome. The water village of Kampong Ayer is also a must-see.

Brunei has a tropical climate all year round, but it usually rains less from December to February. If you are travelling during this period, there is a good chance of dry days, which are perfect for exploring the city or going on nature excursions.

Credit cards such as Visa and Mastercard are usually accepted in larger shops, hotels, and restaurants. The local currency is the Brunei dollar (BND), which can be exchanged for Singapore dollars at a ratio of 1:1. You can obtain cash from the usual ATMs, which are plentiful in the cities.
