Logbook London: From Tower Bridge to Hogwarts

London, a city of history, culture and diversity, has a certain charm that has drawn us in. For this weekend, we plunged into the hustle and bustle of the British metropolis, full of anticipation for majestic sights, culinary discoveries and the magic of the film world.

Day 1: London’s calling!

Our journey to London started with an early arrival at 8am. Tired but full of excitement, we plunged into the vibrant life of the city. The majestic Tower Bridge kicked off our sightseeing tour and we enjoyed the breathtaking views over the River Thames. Our next stop was Buckingham Palace. There we marvelled at the imposing facade, which reflects the royal splendour and history of the British monarchy.

Big Ben, which was unfortunately still under restoration, St Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and the venerable Westminster Abbey were all on our list. The day ended in lively Covent Garden, where street performers showed off their skills and we lost ourselves in the charming alleyways. 16.9 kilometres on foot – an intense but fulfilling first day in London.

What a day! We walked half of London on our first day, but the time flew by and we had an incredible time exploring the capital.

Day 2: Dinosaurs, whales and the London Eye

Our exploration of London continues with a visit to the Natural History Museum. Fascinating exhibitions and impressive dinosaur skeletons take us on a journey through the history of the Earth.

After this cultural rollercoaster ride, we take a culinary break at Borough Market. The variety of food on offer was overwhelming and we sampled international delicacies.

The evening was dedicated to the London Eye. The glittering skyline at sunset and the view of the city lights were incomparable. A perfect end to an eventful day.

Day 3: A day of magic – from London to Hogwarts

On the third day, something magical was on the agenda – the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. On the third day, something magical was on the agenda – the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. First we were enchanted by the inspiring locations in London – like Leadenhall Market (Diagon Alley) – before we started the studio tour. Once there, we immersed ourselves in the world of film production and were fascinated by the original sets and props. The detailed recreations of the wizarding world of Harry Potter brought the magic to life. The souvenir shop was a Harry Potter fan’s paradise – from wands to Hogwarts scarves, there was some magic for everyone.

We were impressed by the creativity and precision that must have gone into each scene. By the end of the day, we felt connected to the world of magic and took a piece of that magic home with us.

A dream came true. We were standing in front of Hogwarts, walking through the Hogwarts Express, inside Dumbledore’s office and the Burrow, strolling through Diagon Alley, drinking butterbeer – and much more! For me (Anna), as a huge Harry Potter fan, it was one of the best days ever!

Day 4: London's Grand Finale

Our last day started at the iconic Kings Cross, where we discovered the famous Platform 9 3/4 and immersed ourselves in the world of Harry Potter once again. The atmosphere was again magical!

Lunch was once again enjoyed at one of the bustling markets before heading to our final stop: The Shard. The skyscraper offered unparalleled views of the city and was the perfect end to our unforgettable weekend in London.

We said goodbye to this breathtaking metropolis with a sense of achievement and countless unforgettable memories. London, you have inspired us with your diversity, your history and your magic.

– And fulfilled one of my greatest dreams, thank you London!
