Rottnest Island is a beautiful island that you definitely have to visit if you’re near Perth or Frementle.
Rottnest Island is 19 km² in size and is known for its white sandy beaches. It is also home to the quokka. A quokka is a type of marsupial that you instantly fall in love with. They live freely all over the island without being caged in enclosures. They look very cute, but watch out! The animals sneak around and before you even know it, they snatch away your food that you might carry in your backpack. The worst part is that you can’t blame them or be angry with them.
We also saw pelicans, a peacock and dolphins. Of course, I was most fascinated by the dolphins, even though we only saw them from a lighthouse. We went to many secluded beaches and enjoyed the weather, which was getting better and better. The sea was turquoise and invited us to swim and snorkel – but unfortunately it was still too cold for us!
