Rottnest Island is a beautiful island that you definitely have to visit if you’re near Perth or Frementle.
Rottnest Island is 19 km² in size and is known for its white sandy beaches. It is also home to the quokkas. A quokka is a species of marsupial that you instantly fall in love with. They live freely all over the island and are not confined in enclosures. They look very cute, but watch out! The animals sneak around and before you even realize it, they’ll snatch away any food you might have in your backpack. The worst thing about it is that you can’t blame them and you can’t be angry with them.
We also saw pelicans, a peacock and dolphins. Of course, I was most fascinated by the dolphins, even though we only saw them from a lighthouse. We went to many secluded beaches and enjoyed the weather, which was getting better and better. The sea was turquoise and perfect for swimming and snorkeling – but unfortunately it was still too cold for us!
