History
In 2006, when the people of the small Hunsrück village of Mörsdorf were looking for ways to revitalise their town, the idea for the Geierlay Bridge was born. By 2010, three local people, including the future mayor, had revived the idea. The building application was submitted in 2014 and, following the subsequent tendering and contracting process, construction began in May 2015. The Geierlay was built in a record time of just under 6 months.
