Taiwan

From steaming dumplings at street stalls to shining temples in vibrant cities and green mountains inviting you to go hiking, Taiwan is a country full of contrasts and surprises. This island nation combines millennia-old traditions with a modern way of life, offering visitors incredible variety in a small space. Taipei, in particular, impresses with its famous Taipei 101 skyscraper, lively night markets and exciting food scene. However, the Taroko Gorge, Sun Moon Lake and the historic city of Tainan also make Taiwan a diverse travel destination with far more to offer than you might expect.

The best time to visit is between October and April, when it is cooler and there are fewer typhoons. This makes it ideal for exploring cities, national parks and coastal regions.

In Taiwan, international credit cards such as Visa or Mastercard are widely accepted in larger shops and hotels. However, it is recommended that you use cash in smaller shops and at street stalls. ATMs with English menus are widespread, especially in 7-Eleven and FamilyMart branches.
