Whether you visit Switzerland in summer or winter, you'll be spoilt for choice between numerous outdoor activities. Besides picturesque little villages and crystal clear lakes, the peaks of the Alps are covered in snow at all times of the year. To top it all off, there's plenty of chocolate and cheese! Switzerland is also famous for the Furka Pass with the historic Hotel Belvédère, the Rhone Glacier and holiday resorts like St. Moritz or Interlaken.
Unlike other European countries such as Italy or Spain, the winter months in Switzerland are usually just as popular as the summer months. Skiing is recommended between December and February. Hiking is quite good during the other three seasons, with opportunities increasing significantly in summer when the snow thaws.
Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, so you don't need to carry large amounts of cash. You will also find ATMs on almost every corner.
