The journey was pleasant and we reached the border at 11.30am. At 1.30pm we arrived at our charming hotel in Prague, which immediately welcomed us with its cosy atmosphere.  <\/p>\n<p>After a short rest at the hotel, we took the tram to the city centre. Our first stop took us directly to the banks of the Vltava River, where we were greeted by the picturesque cityscape. Our next destinations were the famous <a href=\"https:\/\/destary.com\/en\/sights\/the-astronomical-clock-in-prague-a-masterpiece-of-timekeeping\/\">Astronomical Clock<\/a> and the Old Town Square. The Astronomical Clock, a masterpiece of medieval engineering, fascinated us with its hourly spectacle of moving figures. Strolling through the winding alleys, we were enchanted by the charm of the old town.    <\/p>\n<p>For dinner we went to &#8216;The Street&#8217; restaurant where we enjoyed delicious burgers. We ended the day on the banks of the Vltava River, where we took the opportunity to take some photos. When you think of European cities, you often think of <a href=\"https:\/\/destary.com\/en\/travel-guides\/rome-the-most-important-sights\/\">Rome<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/destary.com\/en\/travel-guides\/the-most-12-important-sights-in-paris\/\">Paris<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/destary.com\/en\/travel-guides\/london-guide-guide-to-englands-capital\/\">London<\/a> or other cities. Prague wasn&#8217;t really on my radar, but I was so wrong. Prague blew me away after just half a day. The view of the other side of the Vltava is so aesthetically pleasing!     <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-07c58cc e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"07c58cc\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0bfdae8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0bfdae8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Day 2: Culture and indulgence \u2013 from Kafka to chimney cakes<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-63ea927 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"63ea927\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>After a hearty breakfast at the Bistro Monk, our second day began. Our first stop was the Astronomical Clock, followed by the City Library, where we saw the fascinating Book Sculpture. This unique installation of hundreds of books seemed to reflect endlessly in a mirror, creating a surreal sight. We continued on to the surreal head of Franz Kafka and the impressive Dancing House, whose unconventional architecture caused a stir.   <\/p>\n<p>In the Jewish Quarter we explored the Jubilee Synagogue and immersed ourselves in the rich history of this part of the city. The Jubilee Synagogue, also known as the Jerusalem Synagogue, impressed us with its magnificent Art Nouveau architecture and ornate mosaic windows. A highlight of the day was enjoying a traditional chimney cake, a local speciality.  <\/p>\n<p>In the late afternoon we crossed <a href=\"https:\/\/destary.com\/en\/sights\/pragues-charles-bridge-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-landmark\/\">Charles Bridge<\/a>, one of Prague&#8217;s most famous landmarks. The bridge was full of life \u2013 street musicians and artists created a great atmosphere! We finished the evening with corned dogs in the Old Town Square.  <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d651720 Prague has so much to offer and the architecture is really great! There&#8217;s something to see on every corner!  <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3403cbd e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"3403cbd\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c528d1f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c528d1f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Day 3: On the trail of history - from castle battlements to street food dreams<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ead7624 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ead7624\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The third day started early again and we made our way to Prague Castle. The climb up to the St Vitus Cathedral was strenuous &#8211; lots of stairs and narrow corridors &#8211; but the breathtaking view over Prague made it all worthwhile. A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, St Vitus&#8217;s Cathedral impressed us with its imposing pointed arches and colourful stained glass windows. We then explored the Dripstone Wall, another architectural highlight. Our visit to Manifesto And\u011bl, a lively food market, was a must. Here we sampled a wide variety of delicacies: from poke bowls to juicy burgers and delicious tacos \u2013 a real feast for the taste buds!     <\/p>\n<p>After a short lunch break at the hotel, we changed and headed back to the city centre around 5pm. As always, our first stop was the Astronomical Clock on Old Town Square! We browsed the souvenir shops and enjoyed an Italian dinner at Pizza Bertoldi. data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Our last day started with a delicious breakfast at Osada, right next to our hotel. After packing, we made our way back home to D\u00fcsseldorf, with a few interesting stops along the way. <\/p>\n<p>Our first stop was Velk\u00e1 Amerika, a quarry often referred to as the &#8216;Czech Grand Canyon&#8217;. This former limestone quarry with its turquoise blue lake provided a breathtaking backdrop. The tour continued to the imposing Karlstein Castle, which towers majestically over the town of the same name. After a short walk around the castle, we continued our journey.   <\/p>\n<p>Although we initially toyed with the idea of making a detour to Saxon Switzerland, we decided against it due to the warm weather and the weekend.
