This botanical garden contains plants from all five continents. It is famous for its bamboo forests, colourful bougainvilleas and giant cacti. A particular highlight is the large blue house with its yellow windows and staircase, which is a popular photo motif.   <\/p>\n<p>The 9000m\u00b2 garden is one of the most fascinating and mysterious in Morocco. Created over forty years by the French painter Jacques Majorelle, it is a labyrinth of intersecting paths. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f04232f e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"f04232f\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-72ecba3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"72ecba3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The garden: a work of art<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2c19499 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2c19499\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The garden is a living work of art made up of exotic plants and rare species that Jacques Majorelle brought back from his travels around the world: cacti, yuccas, water lilies, white water lilies, jasmine, bougainvillea, palm trees, coconut palms, banana trees and bamboo. In 1937, the artist created a bright and intense ultramarine blue, now known as Majorelle blue. This intense, cobalt blue colour characterises the buildings, pots and many elements of the garden. The blue is a fascinating contrast to the green plants and the bright Moroccan sun, giving the garden an almost magical quality.  <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e495121 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"e495121\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b661326 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b661326\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">History of the garden<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-36d811c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"36d811c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In 1922, Jacques Majorelle began planting this vast and luxuriant garden, which was to serve as a refuge and botanical laboratory. He brought exotic botanical specimens from all over the world. After a car accident, Majorelle was transferred to Paris, where he died in 1962. The garden fell into disrepair.   <\/p>\n<p>In 1980, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berg\u00e9 bought the garden to save it from destruction by hotel developers. They decided to live in Jacques Majorelle&#8217;s villa, which they renamed Villa Oasis. For years, the Jardin Majorelle was an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Yves Saint Laurent, who often dreamed of its unique colours.  <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3568184 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"3568184\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6b813ac elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6b813ac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The garden today<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bceca97 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bceca97\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>After Yves Saint Laurent&#8217;s death in 2008, Pierre Berg\u00e9 decided to donate the Jardin Majorelle to the Fondation Pierre Berg\u00e9 &#8211; Yves Saint Laurent. Located in the former workshop of Jacques Majorelle, it houses an impressive collection of more than 600 artefacts from Berber culture.
