With a total length of 360 metres, it was the longest suspension rope bridge in Germany until 2017. The maximum height above ground is just under 100 metres. The dead weight of the bridge is 62 tonnes, with a maximum load of 50 tonnes \u2013 approximately 600 people. The bridge is part of a tourism concept with a visitor centre in M\u00f6rsdorf and various circular routes. Visitors can reach the bridge on foot or by bicycle. Since its opening, the bridge has attracted more than 2,000,000 visitors. By 2010, three local people, including the future mayor, had revived the idea. The building application was submitted in 2014 and, following the subsequent tendering and contracting process, construction began in May 2015. The Geierlay was built in a record time of just under 6 months.   <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5df28c4 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5df28c4\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1514a65 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1514a65\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Views from the Geierlay Bridge<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eefabc5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"eefabc5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The view from the Geierlay Bridge is amazing. As you cross the bridge you have a fantastic view of the M\u00f6rsdorf brook valley. The bridge is surrounded by dense forest and most of the walk is through the woods along the streams.  <\/p>\n<p>From the bridge you can also see the village of M\u00f6rsdorf and the surrounding fields.
